In this clip from Texas Chainsaw Massacre Sally is being tied to a chair at the dinner table .At this point sally's friends have been all killed and have either been hanged from meat hooks or their dead bodies have been jammed into the freezers like dead meat.The murdering family of cannibals that is sitting with her like kid bullies taunt her,laugh in her face and mock her cries of desperation.The scene is filled with close ups of her screaming ,especially the fear in her eyes throughout the scene.To the audience ,this feels like torture.Sounds of squealing pigs are used when zooming in on sally's eyes despite their not being pigs in the room, this is is key as it forces the audience like sally forced to sit there on a dinner table ,symbolically face the terrors of the meat industry.The purpose is to make the audience empathize with the animals that are being slaughtered for the sake of humans.At the dinner table theres a humans head on a dish, this puts people in the place of animals.The clip is distressing and almost punishing to the audience.
