Why do film companies need to use trailer?




The trailer is vital to the marketing campaign to promote it ,so people will come to the cinema and watch it.To become a box office hit ,the film is distributed in cinemas all round the country by the distributors of the film. It is very important to spreading awareness about the film therefore film companies need to use it. A marketing campaign is thus creating for the film to become more succeseful.This includes the trailer but as well the advertising on TV and radio as well posters. The trailer reveals the genre and all high selling point of the film to lure audience to go and see in when it releases.



Why is a trailer important?




Trailers are best at making the audience get a sense of the atmosphere and excitement of the film. In comparison to a poster it is far more affective in capturing the audiences interest. The trailer contains sound and moving images, making it an enjoyable experience for the audience that makes them excited to watch the film. The trailer is advertised across differed platforms , to attract as most people as possible.


what types of trailers are there?


There are the teaser trailer which advertises the main trailer. Another trailer is those that would show on TV ,they last up to one minute in length including different cuts than to the main trailer. A DVD would be shown right before a film starts playing on the DVD,the film would be of similar or the same genre, to target audience. There is also the internet trailer which would be specifically be created only for the internet. Lastly theatrical trailer ,those are the longest lasting up to three minutes


When is trailer made?


The trailer would be made during the time of the production or post production of the film and released 3 to 4 months before.

they would preview them in cinemas of a film of similar genre




What is the BFFC? how are films certified?

it stands for h board of film classification it a trusted guide to media content .Its purpose to help make the public informed viewing choice and protect the kids from content that rise harm risks. Here are some examples of classification requirement:
U -universal

In order to be certified as U film the film needs to appropriate for children below four and balances any threat horror or violence within the film. The film should give out a positive message to children not promoting bad behaviour that they could imitate

 PG-Parental guidance


Some scenes may be unsuitable for young children but should not unsettle a child aged around eight or older.Unaccompanied children of any age may watch.

Why is it important that the trailer shows the genre of the film and how does it happen?



it is important for a trailer to show the genre of the film in order to target the right audience. This is done through following conventions of the genre which the audience would already be familiar with.

How does the trailer show that its worth seeing?


This can be done by empathising the films unique selling point for example the horror it unique selling point is that its a re make of a famous horror series and this is shown through featuring the famous clown pennywise in the trailer
